"It is not the beauty of a building you should
look at; its the construction of the foundation
that will stand the test of time."

IEEE

Here is your chance to build a structure with your own techniques and challenge the world to prove your mettle as a successful engineer.
A team may consist of a maximum of 4 members.
This event comprises of 2 rounds:
• A quiz competition.
• Designing of a structure using Popsicle sticks.
Round 1:
1. A quiz of half an hour will be held, in which general technical questions will be asked.
2. Top 10 teams will be sorted out to proceed for the next round.
Round 2:
Techfest brings you the challenge to design a structure using popsicle sticks and adhesive that can sustain the mentioned load, satisfying the understated constraints.
A maximum time limit of 2 hrs. will be provided.
1. Take a cardboard of size about 300mm x 300mm.
2. Leave 50mm space from all four sides and start building your structure over it, using Popsicle sticks.
3. Then start building your structure over it (not more than 2 stories).
4. The structure must be a framed structure (i.e., it must contain beams, lintels etc., having the walls and roof supported on them).
5. Provide proper strength to your structure, as it will be checked under loading.
Design Constraints:
1. No part of the bottom of the tower should cross the boundary of the base. Penalty: 10 points for breaking this rule.
2. The minimum height of the tower measured along its length should be 250mm above the base.
3. The maximum height of the tower measured along its length should be 300 mm above the base.
4. The top most surface of the tower must be parallel to the base.
Material Constraints:
Popsicle sticks, cardboard and adhesives (fevicol only) should only be used to build the structure. The Popsicle sticks can be cut or trimmed to any shape or size.

Top 3 participant will get the certificate of excellence.
Qualifying participant of round 2 will get the certificate of excellence.
1. Judgment will be done on the basis of scores awarded, which will ultimately depend upon load bearing capacity/strength of your structure, appearance, arrangement of sticks etc.
2. Judges' decision shall be final and binding on all.
3. The organizers reserve all rights to change any or all of the above rules as they deem fit. Change in rules, if any will be highlighted on the website.
